As a proud alumnus of American Heritage Schools, I have personally experienced the profound impact of an education that nurtures intellect, curiosity, and ambition. My father, William R. Laurie, founded American Academy out of a deep understanding of the challenges students with learning differences face—challenges he personally experienced growing up with dyslexia. His vision was to create a school where students who learn differently could thrive in an environment designed specifically for their needs.

Inspired by his passion and commitment, I dedicated my career to advancing that mission. Earning a Master’s in Education and a Doctorate, I have spent nearly 30 years ensuring that American Academy continues to provide an innovative, supportive, and individualized education for bright students with learning differences. With small class sizes, a research-based curriculum, and a faculty dedicated to fostering confidence and success, we empower students to reach their full potential academically and beyond.

At American Academy, we don’t just teach—we unlock potential, build confidence, and equip students with the skills they need to succeed in school and in life.
