How To Keep The Learning Momentum Going During The Summer

Meet Our Speakers

For more than 30 years, Dr. Michael Rizzo (a.k.a. Coach Mike) has worked with children and their families who struggle with social, emotional, behavioral, and/or academic difficulties. When he was a child, Dr. Rizzo struggled with ADHD and Dyslexia, yet he never gave up! Eventually, he finished college, went on to graduate school, and against all odds, completed his Ph.D. He also earned his Diplomate in School Neuropsychology from the American Board of School Neuropsychology. Dr. Rizzo started working as a school psychologist in public education until he was recruited ten years later to develop the Psychology Department at Miami Children’s Hospital Dan Marino Outpatient Center in Weston, Florida. His group, Child Provider Specialists, has expanded tremendously with offices in Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade, and Collier Counties. Dr. Rizzo's philosophy is that no child is lazy, and he has dedicated his life to ensuring that he, and those he has mentored, prevent children from being misunderstood simply because they are neuro-diverse (their brains work differently).
Wayne Lenoff has been a part of American Heritage Schools for over 20 years. He holds a Bachelors of Science from Florida State University. After spending seven years in the classroom as a math teacher, Mr. Lenoff became American Heritage Schools, Broward Campus, Camp Director, and, in 2021, became the Director of Summer Programs for both Broward and Palm Beach Campuses. Both of his children, with a third on the way, attend American Heritage Schools, Broward Campus.

“There is no such thing as a lazy child – there are kids who cannot find the success and status in their tribe (within their per group) so they either fight (get angry); flight (get anxious); or freeze (don’t even try). Find how to make them successful and emotional stability and motivation will come.”

"I love doing what I do because it gives me the opportunity to watch students and campers explore, discover new passions, gain confidence, and continue to learn and grow through our Summer Institute and Summer Camp Programs."
