Meet Our Speaker
Laurie Frydenlund is a recognized expert in the field of dyslexia. In 2007, Ms. Frydenlund founded The Learning Solution, an educational support center committed to identifying and tutoring individuals with dyslexia, supporting their families, and consulting educators on classroom strategies. Ms. Frydenlund has enjoyed a life-long passion for learning and reading which has enabled her to achieve great success in her work. She has spent over thirty years mentoring and educating children as an elementary, middle, and high school teacher, as well as serving as a children’s pastor and childcare provider in her early professional years.
Expertise
Ms. Frydenlund has tremendous experience in the field of dyslexia. She provides in-service training for school systems throughout the country to assist educators in identifying the symptoms, appropriate remediation techniques, and classroom accommodations for students with dyslexia. She also works intensively with parents to assess the learning needs of their children and to provide support as they adjust to the learning differences dyslexia presents. Ms. Frydenlund has completed extensive coursework offered by Making Math Real, which is the first and only simultaneous multisensory structured methodology to successfully transfer the hands-on experience of concrete mathematics to its specific reconstruction in abstract, symbolic form.
Credentials
After graduating as Valedictorian of her high school class, Ms. Frydenlund earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Crown College in St. Bonifacious, Minnesota, where she graduated summa cum laude. She continued her education with graduate work through the University of San Diego, completing courses in diagnosing dyslexia and tutoring people with dyslexia. Additionally, Ms. Frydenlund earned certifications as a Master’s Level Barton Reading Tutor and Dyslexia Screening Specialist.
